Welcome to the Airline Academy of Australia!

The Academy is Australia’s only fully integrated flying and aircraft maintenance engineering school. We provide contemporary and professional aviation training services across a number of industry disciplines for domestic and international cadets, Queensland secondary schools and universities, airline customers and self-funded students, including rural, regional and recreational aviators.

We are a leader in the provision of innovative flight and aircraft maintenance training solutions and embrace the latest technology and leading edge training methodologies to ensure we continue to produce the very best pilots and aircraft maintenance professionals.

Committed to the highest standards of training excellence, our organisation is managed by some of the industry’s most experienced aviation professionals, who are dedicated to transferring their considerable knowledge to our students and developing students’ skills to the highest level.

Few organisations can boast such a rich aviation history. The Academy was founded by the Royal Queensland Aero Club which has been in existence since 1910 (when it was known as the Australian Aero Club – Queensland Section) and counts aviation pioneers such as Bert Hinkler among its early members.

Today we continue to strive to provide the industry with the next generation of aviation professionals; people of whom our founders can be proud and who will lead us into the future of commercial aviation locally and internationally..

The Academy has two campuses, both offering a safe yet sophisticated and diverse flying training environment – ideal for beginners right through to advanced pilots.

The flying environments at both our campuses provide a range of conditions suitable for beginners through to more advanced students. We enjoy consistently good weather conditions throughout the year and have direct access to a wide range of beautiful flight destinations such as the Gold Coast, Pacific Ocean, Tamborine Mountains, the Great Dividing Range and Australian countryside.

Our Archerfield Airport campus is located in Brisbane, the capital city of the state of Queensland. The campus and training areas are situated under and around the Brisbane domestic and international airport controlled air space.

In 2015 we opened a brand new campus at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport (Australia’s newest airport) in Toowoomba, a dynamic regional centre that services one of Australia’s major energy, mining and agriculture regions.

The Academy was established by The Royal Queensland Aero Club – originally the Queensland state branch of the Australian Aero Club, established 28 October 1914.

As such, the Airline Academy proudly holds direct lineage to one of the oldest aviation establishments in the world. This rich history underpins and informs the Academy’s culture and pride of place within the Australian aviation industry.

+ VET FEE-HELP & Compliance Documentation

What our students say about the Airline Academy of Australia

I am currently training toward my commercial pilot licence. I plan to use VET FEE-HELP to add my instrument and flight instructor rating next year. Through the Academy, I secured a part time job as an instructor with Flight Experience in the Academy Simulator Centre. Fantastic!
