Document Certification

certcopy

What is a Certified Copy?

A certified copy is a special photocopy of an original document. The certified photocopy has an official stamp on it that means the photocopy is taken of the ORIGINAL document and therefore is genuine. This process ensures that applicants are presenting accurate supporting documents. Australian institutions and the Australian immigration authorities are very strict about documents and cheating or presenting fake documents can lead to serious problems or rejection of an application. Certification ensures that all applications are treated fairly and students cannot gain an advantage by cheating during the application process.
What does a certified document look like?

There are a wide range of certification stamps but the important point is that the stamp/s must: (a) Verify that the copy is true and (b) Identify the certifier so they can be approved and contacted if necessary Fake or fraudulent documents have been edited or changed, for example in photoshop to appear like a real, legitimate document. To prevent fake documents, our assessment team contact the certifier and the document issuer (eg: your high school) to VERIFY the authenticity of the document.
Who can certify a document for me?

Document photocopies should be certified by a Notary Public, Justice of the Peace, or equivalent. Please refer to the following link for details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notary_public. Most cities have a Notary Public or Justice of the Peace or other official scrivener or certifier – please ask your local government office for details. If this is inconvenient, we can also accept certification by a lawyer or solicitor or by your school / college. IMPORTANT: You must tell us the full name, position and contact details of your certifier. Please include this information in your email when you send your certified copies or include a scan of their business card.
